What grades do we serve?
American School Macedonia serves grades 1 to 12.
What is the language of instruction?
English is our language of instruction.
If my child doesn't speak English, can they be admitted?
For students new to our elementary school, particularly those for whom English is not a first language, ASM offers additional ESL classes. The arrangements of these classes are made additionally.
New High School students are required to take an entry test in English and Math and they need to meet the school requirements to be admitted.
Are we accredited?
We are fully accredited by COGNIA (AdvancED), the world’s leading accrediting body. In April 2023 we underwent our re-accreditation process, being subsequently re-accredited with flying colors until 2029!
Our High School (Grades 9 through 12) is also fully accredited by the Macedonian Ministry of Education and Science.
What documents are needed to enroll my child?
- A completed application form (available from the school office).
- For elementary school students: Your child’s last report card from the previous school.
- For high school students: All report cards from their previous high school.
- A birth certificate.
- A copy of your child’s passport.
When can I apply on my child's behalf?
We begin accepting applications from February for the next academic year based on place availability.
Is enrollment ongoing throughout the school year?
We accept students throughout the school year if they provide us with the documentation from their previous school which clearly states the time of their departure.
What national and international standardized tests are administered at ASM?
Students from Grades 1 through 11 take MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) tests in Reading, Language Usage, and Mathematics.
Macedonian students can also take the State Matura Examination.
How many students are there in a class?
The average class size varies between 6 to 15 students.
Is there a school uniform?
Yes, there is a school uniform that is mandatory for all students.
How does the school communicate with parents?
Parents have daily access to our electronic roll-book, SchoolTool, which enables them to see their child’s progress. Should a parent wish to talk to any of the teachers, they can contact the school office to make an appointment. ASM also arranges Parent-Teacher Days during the school year. We encourage parents to check our Facebook page and Instagram for updates on school activities.

How can parents get involved in the school community?
Parents are welcome to get involved in our school activities. ASM offers volunteer opportunities that are available throughout the year, such as classroom presentations or event organization. Parents can find out more by contacting the school office.
Does my child have to be a regular American School Macedonia student to participate in after school, tutoring, testing or summer programs?
Absolutely not. American School Macedonia is able to organize after-school classes in all subject areas. We also successfully prepare students for a range of examinations including SAT, IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge ESOL (FCE, CAE, and CPE).
